KENNETT MAN ARRESTED ON CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE
A Kennett man has been taken into custody on a child pornography charge.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control, 31 year old Matthew Hammond was arrested last week for promoting child pornography.
On February 8th, investigators contacted Hammond after they had developed information indicating he had distributed child pornography files on-line.
Investigators executed a search warrant at Hammond’s home, where they discovered evidence to support that he had distributed child pornography.
Hammond was taken into custody and transported to the Dunklin County Jail, where he is being held on an $85,000 cash only bond.
NAMES RELEASED OF TWO PEOPLE INVOLVED IN MURDER-SUICIDE
Updating a story we brought to you last week, the names of two people killed in a murder-suicide last week have been released.
Greene County Sheriff Brad Snyder tells KWOC News that at approximately 8:40 am on February 5th, Paragould Emergency Services received a call from a concerned party regarding a friend that had not been heard from in a few days.
A deputy attempted to make contact with the subject and observed a body lying in the home. Deputies then made entry into the home and located two deceased persons who had suffered fatal wounds caused by gunfire.
The two subjects have been identified as 51 year old Rebecca Edwards, of Jonesboro, and 49 year old Dewayne Parnell, of Paragould.
Snyder says that Edwards was found to have two gunshot wounds while Parnell only had one gunshot wound to the head. Evidence at the scene indicated that Parnell’s gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
Preliminary autopsy results have confirmed that the incident was a murder-suicide.
$35,000 OF HVAC EQUIPMENT DONATED TO TECHNICAL CAREER CENTER
The Poplar Bluff Technical Career Center has received a donation worth over $30,000 for the Center’s HVAC-R program.
According to School Officials, Nortek has donated seven packaged heating and cooling systems, valued at $35,000.
The heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration program was previously on a five-year rotation to acquire updated units for students to practice servicing, according to TCC instructor Dan Parker.
ONE DEAD, ANOTHER INJURED, FOLLOWING CRASH IN NORTHEAST ARKANSAS
A woman is dead following a head on collision Monday afternoon in Northeast Arkansas.
According to the Arkansas State Police, 45 year old Paul Barrett, of Paragould, was driving on Highway 135 when his vehicle hydroplaned, crossed the centerline, and hit an oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the second vehicle, 23 year old Erica Edwards, of Brookland, was killed in the crash.
Barrett was injured and transported to an area hospital.
SHOULDER WORK SCHEDULED FOR TODAY ON HIGHWAY 51 NEAR QULIN
Missouri Route 51 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane starting today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder repairs.
The section of roadway being reduced is located from County Road 644 to County Road 659 near Qulin.
Weather permitting, work will take place both today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.
CREWS WORKING THIS WEEK ON INTERSTATE 55 IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Motorists should be watching out for crews on the side of Interstate 55 this week in Southeast Missouri.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Interstate 55 will have reduced shoulders in certain areas while contractor crews install new signage on the right of way.
This week, crews will be working at various locations from mile marker 6.8 to mile marker 86.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday.
