SIX PEOPLE CHARGED IN CONNECTION TO ONGOING DRUG INVESTIGATION

Six people have been charged in connection to a drug investigation in Carter County.

Carter County Sheriff Dustin Boyer tells KWOC News that on February 1st, three search warrants were served in Ellsinore as a part of the investigation.

During the searches, law enforcement located a crystal-like substance which was a presumptive positive for methamphetamine, measuring scales, drug paraphernalia, and other items that were seized for evidence.

Boyer says that Joshua Keathely, Jessica Davis, Lamar Millis Jr., Dale Adams, Skeet Barbre, and Basil Wayne Foster have all been charged with delivery of a controlled substance. All of the suspects, except for Foster, have been taken into custody.

POLICE OFFICER CHARGED WITH ASSAULT AFTER TWO VICTIMS COME FORWARD IN MISSOURI BOOTHEEL

A Southeast Missouri Police Officer has been charged with multiple counts of assault after two victims came forward.

According to a probable cause affidavit, one of the victims said that Cardwell Police Officer Danny Spradlin had almost broken his wrist and slammed his head on the hood of a patrol car during a traffic stop in January of 2023.

In October of 2023, a second victim reported that he had been assaulted by Spradlin.

A search warrant was obtained for body camera footage from the stops. The company that manufactured the body camera said that the videos on the body camera had been deleted, however some of the video from the stop the second victim was involved in had been recovered.

Spradlin has been charged with two counts of assault - 3rd degree and two counts of tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution.

He posted a $55,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

APPLICATIONS FOR SPRING MANAGED TURKEY HUNTS AVAILABLE IN MISSOURI

Missouri conservation officials say that applications are available now for spring managed turkey hunts.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, Missouri hunters can apply online for the managed hunts this month through the MDC website at mdc.mo.gov/SpringTurkeyHunts.

Managed hunt details and application procedures are outlined on that webpage. Drawing results will be posted starting March 15th.

Spring turkey hunting youth weekend will be April 6th and 7th with the regular spring season running April 15th through May 5th.

Detailed information on spring turkey hunting will be available in the MDC 2024 Spring Turkey Hunting Regulations and Information booklet which will be available beginning in March.

OVER MONTH LONG PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT BEGINS TODAY IN BUTLER COUNTY

Eastbound U.S. Route 60 in Butler County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction beginning today as construction crews perform pavement repairs.  

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the work zone is located from County Road 411 to the Route 60/67 ramps near Poplar Bluff.     

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Sunday, March 31st, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

REGISTRATION DEADLINE COMING UP FOR THE 2024 OPTIMIST SOCCER LEAGUE IN POPLAR BLUFF

Registration will soon be closed for the 2024 Poplar Bluff Optimist Soccer League.

Registration for youth in kindergarten through sixth grades will be open through February 23rd and the registration fee is $24.

DRIVER EXAMINATION STATIONS TO BE CLOSED TODAY IN MISSOURI

Missouri state officials are reminding motorists that driver examinations will not be available today due to the holiday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, driver examination stations throughout the state will be closed today in observance of President Washington’s birthday.

Officials say that normal operations will resume on Tuesday.
