POPLAR BLUFF ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT SELLING ART FROM LOCAL ARTIST TO RAISE MONEY

The work of a local artist is being highlighted to help raise money for the Poplar Bluff R-1 Athletic Department.

According to R-I Athletic Director Kent Keith, the Athletic Department is selling 11x14 prints of an acrylic painting of a Mules helmet commissioned to the Poplar Bluff school system and painted by Mike Shane.

Shane is the creator of the series housed at the Poplar Bluff Museum depicting Mules Football players through the ages.

Unframed prints of the Mules helmet cost $20, with proceeds supporting Mules sports. To reserve a copy, call 573-785-6471, extension 2.

TEENAGER FLOWN FROM THE SCENE OF A CRASH IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

A teenager was flown from the scene of a single vehicle crash in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 18 year old Tyler Woods was driving on Route D, near Lilbourn, when his vehicle ran off the side of the road, struck a ditch, and overturned.

Woods, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle.

The teen suffered serious injuries and was flown to a Memphis hospital.

DATES ANNOUNCED FOR 45TH ANNUAL OLD GREENVILLE RENDEZVOUS

The dates have been announced for the 45th Annual Old Greenville Rendezvous.

The event, presented by the Crowley’s Ridge Blackpowder Club and the US Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Wappapello, will be held from April 19th through April 21st at the Greenville Campground.

There will be multiple events and entertainment options available and admission will be free to the public.

EARTHQUAKE RECORDED IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

A small earthquake was recorded this week in Southeast Missouri.

According to the United States Geological Survey, the magnitude 2.0 quake was located half a mile northwest of Cooter.

The earthquake had a depth of over seven miles.

ALMOST WEEK LONG ROAD PROJECT TO BEGIN TODAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route F in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane over the next several days as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform drainage repairs.

The work zone is located between County Road 442 and County Road 449A near Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Tuesday, February 13th.

SHOULDER REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY NEAR DEXTER

Route F in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane over two days as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform work on the shoulder of the roadway.

The section of roadway involved in the project is located from Route J to County Road 420 near Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
