TORNADO CONFIRMED TO HAVE TOUCHED DOWN IN SIKESTON AREA

A tornado is confirmed to have touched down Sunday in the Sikeston area.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, the EF-3 tornado had peak winds of 140 miles per hour and traveled from east of Morehouse to Diehlstadt.

An EF-2 Tornado was also confirmed in Ripley and Butler County, traveling from the Fourche Creek Conservation Area to the western edge of Poplar Bluff.

That tornado had a path length of 38.6 miles and maximum wind speeds of 115 miles per hour.

TWO DEAD IN CONNECTION TO INCIDENT AT CLARKTON SEWER PLANT

Two people were electrocuted Tuesday at a sewer plant in the Missouri Bootheel.

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred at the Clarkton Sewer plant Tuesday morning. A dump truck was unloading gravel and during the process struck a high voltage wire.

Two workers, identified as John Langston and William Lesslie, both of Clarkton, were electrocuted. They were both killed during the incident.

Officials say the incident is under investigation.

TEENAGER FACING CHARGES AFTER POINTING BB GUN AT PEOPLE IN DEXTER

A teenager has been taken into custody in connection to an incident with a BB gun in Dexter earlier this week.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 18 year old Ely Fox, of Bloomfield, was arrested on a Stoddard County warrant for three counts of assault 4th degree and three counts of unlawful use of a weapon.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Fox admitted to pointing a BB gun out of the window of a vehicle in the general direction of nearby people on Monday.

Fox was booked into the Stoddard County Jail on a no bond warrant.

MAN ARRESTED IN POPLAR BLUFF AFTER REPORTEDLY THREATENING TO STAB SOMEONE

A man has been taken into custody following a reported stabbing threat.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, on Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of South Broadway in reference to a subject in a wheelchair threatening to stab someone.

Victims said that the subject was yelling at them, threatening them, and attempted to punch them.

Officers later made contact with 50 year old Rodney Sparkman who was taken into custody. He was processed and lodged in the Butler County Justice Center on charges of domestic assault 4th degree and harassment 1st degree.

STODDARD COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY

Route AC in Stoddard County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway being closed is located from Route AC to County Road 237 near Bloomfield.

Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS FORCE CLOSURE OF NEW MADRID COUNTY ROAD

Route AB in New Madrid County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The closure is located near New Madrid between Route WW and County Road 405.

Crews are scheduled to be at the work location today from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
