MOTORCYCLE INVOLVED IN WAYNE COUNTY CRASH, TWO PEOPLE SERIOUSLY INJURED
Two people were seriously injured in a crash involving a motorcycle over the weekend in Wayne County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at around 4 pm Sunday when a motorcycle, driven by 58 year old Joseph Murgo, of Williamsville, crossed the center of Highway 49 and struck an oncoming vehicle head on.
Both Murgo, and a passenger on his motorcycle, 41 year old Lisa Stetson, of Poplar Bluff, were flown to a St. Louis hospital with serious injuries.
No injuries were listed for the driver of the second vehicle.
ADVANCE MAN ARRESTED ON WARRANT FOR ABUSE OR NEGLECT OF A CHILD
An Advance man has been taken into custody on a warrant for abuse or neglect of a child.
According to a probable cause affidavit, on April 24th, a young child arrived at Advance School with severe bruises on their forehead, head, and inside their ear. The school nurse also located a bruise on the child’s back, which resembled a handprint.
During later exams, the bruises were reported to be pattern bruises and appeared to be non-accidental bruising. The report also said that the patterned bruises on the forehead, ear, cheek, and eye area were most consistent with non-accidental trauma and highly suggested abuse.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 31 year old Christopher Clark, of Advance, has been taken into custody on a Stoddard County warrant for endangering the welfare of a child and abuse or neglect of a child. He was booked in the Stoddard County Jail with a $25,000 cash only bond.
ONE ARRESTED IN POPLAR BLUFF ON KIDNAPPING CHARGE IN CONNECTION TO DOMESTIC ASSAULT INVESTIGATION
One person was arrested over the weekend on a kidnapping charge in connection to a domestic assault investigation.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 24 year old Darrion Hubrins, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested Saturday afternoon during the investigation on G Street.
Hubrins was lodged in the Butler County Jail on charges of kidnapping first degree, domestic assault second degree, and harassment first degree.
ANNUAL MISSOURI FREE FISHING DAYS COMING UP ON JUNE 8TH AND 9TH
The annual Free Fishing Days weekend is coming up soon.
Missouri Department of Conservation officials say that during the Free Fishing Days on June 8th and 9th anyone may fish in Missouri without having to buy a fishing permit, trout permit, or trout park daily tag.
Aside from not needing permits, other fishing regulations remain in effect during Free Fishing Days, such as limits on size and number of fish an angler may keep. Special permits may still be required at some county, city, or private fishing areas.

PAVEMENT REPAIRS TO FORCE CLOSURE OF ROAD IN BLOOMFIELD AREA
Route AC in Stoddard County will be closed today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.
The section of roadway being closed is located from Route AA to County Road 237 near Bloomfield.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
DONIPHAN ROAD TO BE CLOSED FOR PART OF TODAY FOR UTILITY WORK
Crews are closing a Doniphan street today for work.
According to the city of Doniphan facebook page, the Doniphan Public Works Department was scheduled to close State Street to through traffic this morning at 5:00 a.m.
The closing is due to utility work being done in the area and city officials say that the street will reopen as soon as work is completed.
