DAMAGING WIND AND TORNADOES POSSIBLE WITH TODAY'S STORM SYSTEM
A line of storms crossing the area tonight is bringing with it the possibility of severe weather.
Justin Gibbs, lead forecaster with the National Weather Service in Paducah, says that we could see damaging winds and tornados as a part of this system.
“We are concerned ingredients may come together Friday evening and overnight for thunderstorms producing damaging wind and a few tornadoes. If storms form they would very likely occur after the regular school and work day hours. The severe weather risk has been set at level 4 of 5 and everyone should continue to monitor for later forecast developments as the event nears.”
A wind advisory will also be in effect beginning at 1 pm today and continuing through the early morning hours on Saturday.

FORGERY INVESTIGATION LEADS TO ARREST FOR VIOLATION OF MISSOURI STOLEN VALOR ACT
A forgery investigation has resulted in the arrest of a man for allegedly impersonating a veteran.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office, earlier this month a New Madrid County Deputy responded to Lilbourn VFW Post 7183 for a report of possible forgery.
Officials at the VFW provided the deputy with paperwork submitted by a prospective member, and at the same time voiced concerns about the validity of the documents. Investigators determined that the suspect, 52-year-old William Clark, had never served in the military in any capacity.
This week, Clark was found to be living in a hotel in Malden. Deputies conducted a search warrant of the hotel room and found numerous items of evidence including counterfeit military certificates, medals, and clothing.
Forged documents were also found where Clark had purported himself to be an officer with an American Legion Post in Texas; the flyers asked for donations for a local JROTC program that does not exist.
Clark was taken into custody and charges have been filed for forgery and a violation of Missouri’s Stolen Valor Act.
