SEVERE WEATHER POSSIBLE WITH UPCOMING STORM SYSTEM
A line of storms crossing the area on Friday is bringing with it the possibility of severe weather.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, there is the potential for a line of severe storms to produce damaging winds and tornadoes as it moves across the area late Friday afternoon into early Saturday morning.
Officials say that winds could gust up to 40 miles per hour ahead of the storms.
Most areas have a chance of seeing a half inch or more rain Friday and Saturday, although officials added that flooding concerns are low.
PUXICO COME UP SHORT IN STATE SEMIFINAL
The Puxico Indians basketball team's run to a state championship has come to an end.
The Indians were defeated by the Canton Tigers Wednesday night during the Class 2 Boys Basketball State Semifinal.
Puxico will play in the Class 2 3rd place game this afternoon with tip off scheduled for 2 pm at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
The Third Place Game game will be broadcast live over the radio on Today’s Talk KWOC and Shuffle 92.9. Audio from the game will also be on both stations' Facebook pages and the River Radio Youtube page.
NEELYVILLE MAN CHARGED WITH RAPE OR ATTEMPTED RAPE
A Neelyville man is scheduled to appear in court next week on a rape charge.
According to Missouri Case Net, 53 year old Michael Cobbley, of Neelyville, is facing multiple charges including felony rape or attempted rape 1st degree.
Cobbley is accused of having inappropriate contact with a juvenile.
A warrant was issued for Cobbley’s arrest earlier this month and he is scheduled to appear in a Butler County courtroom on March 18th.
BURGLARY INVESTIGATION LEADS TO MULTIPLE ARRESTS IN DUNKLIN COUNTY
Multiple people have been taken into custody following a burglary investigation in Dunklin County.
According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office, shortly before 7 am on Tuesday, authorities received a report of a burglary at a business in Arbyrd.
A short time later the Hornersville Police Chief began receiving reports of items stolen from vehicles and vehicles being tampered with.
An investigation ensued which resulted in three arrests being made and some of the stolen property being recovered.
The names of the subjects arrested have not been released, but they are facing formal charges from the Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
DEXTER WOMAN ARRESTED ON MULTIPLE DRUG RELATED CHARGES
A Dexter woman has been taken into custody on multiple drug related charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49 year old Tonya Simpson was arrested Tuesday afternoon on possession of a controlled substance charges for methamphetamine and oxycodone.
Simpson is also facing a charge of delivery or possession of a controlled substance in a jail facility.
Following her arrest, Simpson was held in the Stoddard County Jail.
BRIDGE MAINTENANCE SCHEDULED FOR TODAY IN BUTLER AND STODDARD COUNTY
Route U in Butler and Stoddard Counties will be reduced to one lane with a 14-foot width restriction beginning today as contractor crews perform bridge maintenance.
According to MoDOT, the section of roadway being reduced is located from County Road 668 in Butler County to County Road 681 in Stoddard County.
Weather permitting, work will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. both today and tomorrow.
