LOCAL RESIDENTS ARRESTED ON POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE 

Two Poplar Bluff residents were taken into custody in Butler County on Sunday for possession of methamphetamine. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 42 year old Bryan Swift and Vickie Campbell, of Poplar Bluff, were arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine. 

They both also face charges on possession of marijuana, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia. 

They were both sent to the Butler County Jail following their arrests.

FLU SHOTS AVAILABLE AT THE JOHN J. PERSHING VA MEDICAL CENTER THIS WEEK 

The Poplar Bluff John J. Pershing VA Medical Center is setting up a flu shot clinic today.  

Veterans who come and are enrolled in VA health care can get their flu shot for free. 

The clinic opens from 6 am to 5 pm, and will be available today until Friday of this week.

PUBLIC HEARING IN DONIPHAN SCHEDULED FOR NEXT WEEK 

There will be a public hearing next week in Doniphan. 

The hearing will discuss the city’s submission of an application for the Fiscal Year 2019 Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program. 

Citizens are encouraged to put in their opinions on buyout zones and other necessities on the April – May 2017 flooding in the city.

MAN HOLDING MULTIPLE WARRANTS ARRESTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY 

A man holding multiple warrants in several counties was taken into custody in New Madrid County on Friday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 34 year old Tony Garrett, of Sikeston, was arrested for felony unlawful possession of a weapon. 

He also faces charges on possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. 

Garrett holds one warrant in Sikeston, failure to appear on possession of marijuana, and three in Mississippi County, one on failure to appear for narcotics equipment possession, and two on failure to appear for non-moving traffic offense.

He was taken to a jail in Mississippi County following his arrest.

POTENTIAL BOMB THREAT AT GREENE COUNTY WALMART 

There was a call-in on a potential bomb threat in Greene County on Sunday. 

According to the Paragould Police Department, around 2 pm, the department was notified on a potential bomb threat at the Walmart Supercenter on West Kings highway.  

The store was evacuated short after for an extensive sweep involving explosive detecting K9 units and SWAT officers. 

They deemed the building safe, and the market returned to normal operations. 

Officials state that the threat is currently under investigation, and more details will be released at a later date.

JOHN J. PERSHING MEDICAL CENTER HOSTING ANNUAL 2K WALK

The local VA Medical Center will be holding a 2k walk next week. 

The annual Go Pink and Purple 2K walk will be hosted by the John J. Pershing Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on Friday, October 18th. 

The event is held for breast cancer and domestic violence awareness, as well as recognizing families who have lost children to miscarriages. 

Participants are encouraged to wear pink or purple during the event. 

The walk will be held at the medical center’s walking track near Westwood Blvd, from noon to 2 pm.
