POPLAR BLUFF COUPLE FACING CHARGES AFTER ROBBING ESSEX BANK 

Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, the identity of a man who robbed the Southern Bank of Essex has been released. 

According to Officials, the robber has been identified as Glenn Hamilton of Poplar Bluff. Hamilton handed the teller of the bank a note saying to give him money. Hamilton then allegedly motioned to his side as if he had a handgun. He made away with around $1,900. 

He is also on parole for felony possession of cocaine. 

Officials have also taken Jamie White, also of Poplar Bluff into custody, after video footage showed that she drove Hamilton away after the robbery. 

They have both been charged with felony of first-degree robbery, and are being held without bond. The location of their arrest has not been released.

TWO SUSPECTS WANTED FOR STEALING AMMUNITION FROM LOCAL STORE 

Two males are under suspicion of stealing ammunition from a Poplar Bluff store. 

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, they are suspected of stealing ammunition from Academy Sports, and their identities are currently under investigation.

BUTLER COUNTY COMMUNITY RESOURCE COUNCIL HOSTING COMMUNITY OUTREACH DAY 

The Butler County Community Resource Council will be hosting a community outreach day on Friday. 

The event is for individuals and families who need access to free services and assistance, including housing, medical, classes, employment, haircuts, groceries, social services, clothing, and more. 

Those who come are asked to bring a laundry basket, bags, or boxes to carry your groceries.

 The event will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff, located on 500 North Main Street.

LOCAL MAN ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE AND WEAPON FELONY CHARGES 

A Poplar Bluff resident has been taken into custody in Butler County on methamphetamine and weapon felony charges. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 21 year old Daniel Hill, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and felony unlawful use of a weapon. 

He was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest.

CARTER COUNTY OFFICIALS HOSTING GIGGING TOURNAMENT 

Carter County officials are hosting a gigging tournament this weekend. 

The event will be held at the Van Buren Riverfront Park on Saturday, and will feature a live auction, live music, fish fry, and barbeque. There will also be boats to rent for fishing. 

Boats are $50 per 4 people, and $10 per additional person, for 1 hour. 

There will also be prizes for the most combined weight on 4 fish, and largest fish overall.

ANIMAL WELFARE ALLIANCE HOSTING HOWLING AT THE MOON EVENT ON FRIDAY 

The Animal Welfare Alliance is hosting an event this week. 

The 11th Annual Howling at the Moon event will be held from 6 to 10pm on Friday at the Westwood Center in Poplar Bluff.
