POPLAR BLUFF POLICE ANNOUNCE ALCOHOL SALE COMPLIANCE CHECKS
The first of several upcoming alcohol compliance checks of local businesses have been completed in Poplar Bluff.
Captain Darron Moore with the Poplar Bluff Police Department tells KWOC News last month, 14 local businesses were visited during the check, and of those, 3 were found in violation of selling alcohol to underage buyers.
Officials say in the next few months young adults under the age of 21 will visit more businesses which sell alcoholic beverages and try to purchase these drinks.
Police Officers will be working with these minors, and will cite employees and businesses for violations.

TWO MEN ARRESTED IN KENNETT AFTER STEALING AROUND 30 AIR CONDITIONERS
Two Tennessee men were arrested in Kennett after stealing around 30 air conditioner coils from a store in Tennessee.
According to the Dunklin County Sheriff’s Office, Vernon Harrell, of Mason Hall, and William Hamm, of Obion, were arrested by Kennett officials on stolen property charges.
Warrants for theft over $2,500 have been signed, and they will be extradited back to Tennessee.
WRECK IN DUNLKIN COUNTY LEADS TO SERIOUS INJURIES OF TWO MISSOURI RESIDENTS
Two Missouri residents were seriously injured in a wreck that occurred Wednesday evening in Dunklin County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 19 year old Legend Horton, of Kennett, drove across the center line of Route 53 at Holcomb and struck the vehicle of 42 year old Jacklin Odom, of Holcomb, head on.
Horton was flown to a trauma center, and Odom was transported by ambulance to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
FIRE REPORTED AT VACANT HOUSE IN POPLAR BLUFF
A fire was reported yesterday in a vacant house in Poplar Bluff.
The Poplar Bluff Fire Department received a call around noon on Wednesday about a fire that broke out in a vacant house on Grove Street, with Poplar Bluff police joining them on the scene.
There were no injuries reported, and authorities are investigating a cause for the fire.
CARTER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE HOSTING DRUG TAKE BACK EVENT
There will be an event to safely dispose of unused, unwanted, or expired prescription drugs this weekend in Carter County.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Office will be holding a Drug Take Back event on Saturday, from 10 am to 2 pm.
This service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked. Carter County officials say that the DEA cannot accept hypodermic needles or aerosol inhalers.
The first 10 persons dropping off medication will receive a free medication safe.
STREET IN DONIPHAN CLOSING FOR WATER MAIN REPAIRS
A Street in Doniphan will be closing next week for water main repairs.
According to the Doniphan Police Department, Lafayette Street will be closing on Tuesday, October 29th, beginning at 6:30 am. The work will stretch from Young Street north to Summit Street.
The roadwork should be completed by noon on the same day.
