HIGH SPEED PURSUIT IN STODDARD COUNTY LEADS TO WRECK AND ON FOOT PURSUIT 

A high speed pursuit in Stoddard County on Saturday led to a wreck and on foot chase. 

According to the Puxico Police Department, a pursuit occurred while attempting to stop a vehicle that was traveling at high speeds, leading the vehicle to crash on State Highway 51. 

The driver attempted to flee on foot, where they were apprehended and arrested. Their identity has not been released. 

They had warrants, were in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, and were transported to the Stoddard County Jail following their arrest.

FIRE REPORTED NEAR THE POPLAR BLUFF LIBRARY ON FRIDAY 

There was a fire reported near the Poplar Bluff Library on Friday morning. 

According to the Poplar Bluff Fire Department, the fire was located at a residence off of North Second Street, where the fire had spread throughout the house. 

Officials state that the fire started from an unattended fireplace, where an occupant had left the home after igniting it.

2.6 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE HITS 22 MILES FROM MALDEN 

A small earthquake shook parts of Southeast Missouri Friday evening.  

According to the United States Geological Survey, a 2.6 magnitude earthquake was recorded at 6:30 pm Friday.  

The earthquake was located a little over four miles southeast of Marston and had a depth of around 5 miles.

ELLSINORE MAN CONVICTED ON MURDER CHARGE IN 2018 SHOOTING 

An Ellsinore man has been convicted of first degree murder for the shooting death of Ruby Hernandez in 2018. 

According to Carter County Sheriff Rick Stephens, 45 year old Jason Roberts was convicted of felony first degree murder and felony armed criminal action by a Carter County jury. 

The case involved the shooting of 34 year old Rudy Hernandez, who was allegedly shot by Roberts in the head on July 17th of 2018. 

Robert’s sentencing has been scheduled for December 9th, with the possibility of facing a life-time jail sentence with no parole.

STOLEN VEHICLE REPORTED IN STODDARD COUNTY 

A vehicle has been reported being stolen in Stoddard County. 

According to the Puxico Police Department, the vehicle is a dark metallic brown 1977 four door Chevrolet Nova, with a light beige vinyl top. 

The Puxico Police Department has a picture of the vehicle on their Facebook page, and asks anyone with information on the vehicle to contact them at 573-222-3565.

ARKANSAS MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES 

An Arkansas man was taken into custody in Butler County on Friday on possession of methamphetamine charges. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 49 year old Henry Rice, of Salesville, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine. 

He was transported to a jail in Butler County following his arrest.
