IDENTIY OF MAN ARRESTED ON CHARGES FOLLOWING VEHICLE PURSUIT RELEASED
Updating a story we brought to you yesterday, the identity of a man who was taken into custody following a vehicle pursuit has been released.
Officials with the Puxico Police Department tell KWOC News that the suspect is Jeffrey Gross, of Perryville. He was arrested for resisting arrest by fleeing on Saturday following a foot pursuit after his vehicle crashed off State Highway 51.
He was also charged with delivery of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, as well as holding a parole violation warrant.
Gross is currently being held at the Stoddard County Jail with no bond.
PARAGOULD MAN FACING RAPE CHARGE OF 7 YEAR OLD FOLLOWING INVESTIGATION
A Paragould man has been charged for raping a 7 year old child after an investigation by Arkansas Officials.
According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, 23 year old Quentin Walker, of Paragould, was charged with rape after an investigation by the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division found probable cause.
Officials state that the victim identified Walker as her offender, and that he had been to the child’s house several times over the past year.
Walker’s bond has been set at $75,000 cash only.
POPLAR BLUFF MUNICIPAL LIBRARY HOSTING BOOK- SALE THIS WEEKEND
The Poplar Bluff Municipal Library will be hosting a book sale this weekend.
The sale will feature books from multiple genres and age groups, including bestsellers, popular authors, nonfiction, science fiction, as well as audio-books and DVDs.
The book sale will start on Friday, and will continue until Sunday.
EAST CARTER SOFTBALL TEAM TO PLAY IN STATE FINAL FOUR ON FRIDAY
The East Carter High School Softball team will be playing in the State Semi-finals this Friday in Springfield for the 2nd straight season.
East Carter, who have a 21 and six record for the season, will be taking on Sherwood High School beginning at 1 pm. Sherwood is 24 and 3.
The winner will advance to the State Championship game on Saturday against the winner of the second semi-final. The final will begin at 2 pm Saturday at Killian Sports Complex in Springfield.
ESSEX MAN ARRESTED ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
An Essex man has been taken into custody following drug related charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 46 year old John Collins, of Essex, was arrested on a warrant for delivery of a controlled substance.
His bond is set at $50,000 cash only.
NEW MADRID HISTORIC SITE HOSTING VICTORIAN MOURNING PRACTICES PROGRAM
A Historic Site in New Madrid County will be hosting a Victorian mourning practices program next weekend.
The Hunter-Dawson State Historic Site will be holding the program, and will include description of the practices, formal parlors, and post mortem photographs.
The site is located on 312 Dawson Road.
