MISSOURI MAN CHARGED WITH RESISTING ARREST FOLLOWING HIGH SPEED CHASE
A Missouri man was charged with resisting arrest yesterday after leading Dunklin County officials on a high speed chase.
Dunklin County officials state that 32 year old Kurtis Austin, of Arbyrd, accelerated to around 100 miles per hour after an officer attempted to pull him over for illegally tinted windows, as well as driving on the wrong side of the road.
He drove through the city of Cardwell, where he almost struck an officer attempting to stop him. He continued traveling towards Arkansas, getting to around 120 miles per hour before he crashed and was taken into custody.
Austin has been scheduled for a sentence hearing on December 11th, potentially facing up to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections.
DEXTER MAN BOOKED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
A Dexter man was taken into custody in Stoddard County yesterday on drug related charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 37 year old Sarah Hough, of Dexter, was booked on possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Her bond is $12,500 cash/surety, and remained in custody following her arrest.
HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS FROM THE POPLAR BLUFF POLICE DEPARTMENT
Halloween is today and Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley has some tips to help keep your child safe while trick or treating.
Chief Whiteley says parents should establish a route for children, making sure they stay within familiar areas and surroundings. An adult should accompany young children. Parents should also remind kids not to enter strangers' homes or cars, and to avoid homes without an outside light on.
Be sure to tell your children to not eat treats until they get home and remember to inspect all treats before allowing your kids to eat them.
FREEZE WARNING TO GO INTO EFFECT TONIGHT IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Colder temperatures are on the way and this has prompted a freeze warning to be issued for much of our listening area.
According to the National Weather Service, a freeze warning will be in effect from 10 pm tonight to 10 am Friday for all of Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.
Weather officials say that temperatures are expected to drop into the 20’s tonight and this kind of temperature will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
With temperatures getting below freezing officials are reminding residents to be safe with their heating devices.
Keep anything that can burn at least three-feet away from heating equipment such as furnaces, fireplaces, wood stoves, or portable space heaters. Have a three-foot “kid-free zone” around open fires and space heaters. Never use extension cords or power strips to power space heaters and never use your oven to heat your home.
KENNETT MAN ARRESTED IN DUNKLIN COUNTY ON METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION
A Kennett man was taken into custody in Dunklin County yesterday on possession of methamphetamine.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 41 year old Robbie Lance, of Kennett, was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
He was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lance was transported to the Dunklin County Jail following his arrest.
DONIPHAN HOSTING HAUNTED DOWNTOWN SPOOKTACULAR TODAY
The city of Doniphan will be hosting its 8th annual Downtown Halloween Spooktacular tonight.
