LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT OF A TODDLER 

An area man has been taken into custody for the alleged assault of a toddler. 

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 22 year old Jordan Holloway struck both a 3 year old child and a 23 year old man in the head with a handgun on Saturday.  

Officials say the incident occurred on the front lawn of a residence on Lester Street.  

Information obtained from the victim suggests the assault was in response to an earlier physical altercation. 

Holloway was arrested and lodged in the Butler County Jail on suspicion of endangering the welfare of a child - 1st degree, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

LOCAL MAN ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE FELONY CHARGES 

An area man was taken into custody this morning on drug and weapon charges. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 23 year old Devon Raddad, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested for multiple felony charges including possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine and unlawful use of a weapon. 

He is also facing a charge of possession of less than 10 grams of marijuana.

OFFICIALS URGE RESIDENTS TO SET FIRE ESCAPE PLANS AND ALARM TESTING FOR NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK  

Officials are reminding area residents this week to set their fire escape plans and perform alarm testing as a part of Fire Prevention Week. 

According to the American Red Cross of Southeast Missouri, families should go over their fire safety protocols and escape routes in the case of an emergency. 

This includes having two ways out of each room in your home, a set meeting spot when out of danger, and practicing your escape plans. 

The Red Cross also urges you to install smoke alarms in your home, and to test them monthly.

POPLAR BLUFF SUPER 8 MOTEL EVACUATED DUE TO SMOKE

A local motel was evacuated on Monday due to smoke. 

KWOC News has learned that the Poplar Bluff Fire Department responded to the Super 8 Motel on North Westwood Boulevard Monday afternoon after smoke was observed in a crawl space. 

The Poplar Bluff Police Department was also at the scene assisting in the evacuation. 

The evacuation has since been lifted, and no information was available about the cause of the smoke.

BERNIE MAN ARRESTED ON METHAMPHETAMINE CHARGE 

A man has been arrested in Butler County on a drug related felony charge. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 62 year old Barry Condict, of Bernie, was taken into custody on Monday on a charge of felony possession of methamphetamine. 

He is also facing a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

LAKE WAPPAPELLO STATE PARK HOSTING FALL TOUR THIS WEEKEND 

A fall tour has been scheduled this weekend at a Southeast Missouri state park. 

Lake Wappapello State Park will be hosting a tour of the lake on Saturday from 10 am to noon. Particpants will have the opportunity to experience the park and its surroundings from a different perspective. 

Lake Wappapello State Park is located near Williamsville, along Highway 172.
