RIVER RADIO LIGHTED CHRISTMAS PARADE SET FOR TONIGHT IN POPLAR BLUFF
Parade lights will be shining bright tonight in Downtown Poplar Bluff during the 2019 River Radio Lighted Christmas Parade.
Lineup will begin at 5:45 pm at the Hydro Adventures parking with the parade starting 6:30 pm.
The parade route will run from Highway 142 at McDonald’s through downtown Poplar Bluff before ending back at the Black River Coliseum.
There will be free hot chocolate served at the Bronze Owl, located on Vine Street in downtown Poplar Bluff starting at 6 pm.
MULTIPLE DWI SATURATION’S TO BE HELD IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
Officials with the Missouri State Highway Patrol say that multiple special operations are planned for Southeast Missouri throughout December.
According to Captain Phil Gregory, commanding officer of Troop E of the Highway Patrol, sometime during the month of December, Troop E officers will be conducting several driving while intoxicated saturation enforcement operations.
Gregory says the operations will be conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol in cooperation with local law enforcement agencies.
WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA PROGRAM TO BE HELD AT MISSOURI STATE VETERANS CEMETERY
The Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield will be participating in the annual Wreaths across America program on December 14th.
During the ceremony a wreath will be placed on every grave in the cemetery. Families and friends of those interred as well as the general public are invited to attend the event.
The program will begin at 11 am Saturday at the Committal Shelter Pavilion in the cemetery.
LOCAL MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON MULTIPLE CHARGES
A local man was taken into custody in Butler County on Thursday on multiple charges.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 34 year old Ronnie Hawks, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested on multiple warrants and several charges.
The warrants include a felony warrant in Scott and Ripley Counties on failure to appear on non-support, a Butler County probation violation warrant, and a warrant on probation & parole on possession of a controlled substance.
His charges include two charges on felony possession of a controlled substance – Hydrocodone and Buprenorphine/Naloxone, and driving while suspended.
Hawks was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest, with no bond.
FILING TO BEGIN TODAY FOR SEATS ON THE POPLAR BLUFF SCHOOL BOARD
Filing is set to begin December 17th for three seats on the Poplar Bluff Board of Education.
Officials say that filing for the 3, three year terms on the School Board will run from 8 am to 5 pm through January 21st, while school is in session.

SERIOUS INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY
Serious injuries were reported on Thursday after a vehicle accident in Butler County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the accident occurred on Route AA, near Broseley, where a vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
The driver of the vehicle received serious injuries, and was transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital following the crash.
