MAN ARRESTED IN POPLAR BLUFF FOLLOWING SHOOTING

A man was arrested in Poplar Bluff on Tuesday following reports of a shooting.

According to Lieutenant Keith Hefner with the Poplar Bluff Police Department, officers responded to a call of shots fired on North Main Street, where a subject was reportedly shot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they located a Poplar Bluff resident in his 40’s who had been shot in the head. Emergency services transported the victim to a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment.

Officers apprehended and arrested 22 year old Kayln Johnson without incident, who was found with the weapon that investigators believed to have been used in the shooting.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON DRUG AND WEAPON CHARGES

 

A Poplar Bluff resident was taken into custody in Butler County on Tuesday on drug and weapon charges.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tell KWOC News that 55 year old James Kopp, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, unlawful use of a weapon, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest.

INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN STODDARD COUNTY

 

Injuries have been reported following a vehicle crash in Stoddard County on Tuesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on County Road 266, north of Puxico, where a vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.

The 17 year old driver of the vehicle received minor injuries, and was transported to a hospital in Poplar Bluff, while a 16 year old occupant of the vehicle received moderate injuries, and was transported to a hospital in Cape Girardeau.

BUTLER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT ADMINISTRATOR PASSES AWAY TUESDAY MORNING

 

The Butler County Health Department’s Administrator has passed away as of Tuesday morning.

Butler County Coroner Andy Moore tells KWOC News that Robert Hudson, the County’s Health Department Administrator, passed away early Tuesday morning, with an autopsy scheduled for today.

Hudson was the Butler County Health Department’s Administrator since 1997.

MAN AWAITING HEARING ON MURDER CHARGE IN GREENE COUNTY

 

A man is currently waiting for bond hearing on a murder charge in Greene County.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Department, 54 year old Kevin Brady, of Jonesboro, was arrested facing a first-degree murder charge after authorities answered a call on Monday about a suspected murder, where officials found the body of 33 year old Michael Nix.

His body was sent to a crime lab to determine his cause of death, and more information will be available as the investigation proceeds.

MAN ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION CHARGES

 

A man was taken into custody in Butler County on Tuesday on drug possession charges.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 51 year old Peter Bennett, of Neelyville, was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.

He was additionally charged with two felony Butler County warrants, and a Poplar Bluff Police Department misdemeanor warrant.

Bennett was transported to the Butler County Jail following his arrest.

MULTIPLE EARTHQUAKES REPORTED IN NEW MADRID AND PEMISCOT COUNTIES

 

Multiple earthquakes were reported over the last few days in New Madrid and Pemiscot Counties.

According to the US Geological Survey, the first earthquake struck on Monday near Marston, and registered at a magnitude of 1.7. The second quake also registered at 1.7 magnitude, and was located east of Hayward.

The final quake was recorded near Marston, at a magnitude of 2.3 and a depth of around 3 miles.
