FILING CONTINUES FOR POPLAR BLUFF CITY COUNCIL SEATS 

Filing for two seats on the Poplar Bluff City Council continues.

The seats on file are currently held by deputy mayor pro tempore Steve Davis and council member Ron Black, with four people having already filed for the seats, which include Davis himself. Black has been reported saying he is unsure if he will run for another term.

Filing for the positions will be held until January 21st, and is available at the Poplar Bluff City Clerk’s office at 501 Vine Street, from 7:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday, and 7: 30 am through 5 pm on the final filing day.

WOMAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG AND ASSAULT CHARGES 

A woman was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Thursday on drug and assault charges.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 26 year old Destiny Corbin, of Lake Land, was booked on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance, assault – 3rd degree, and a parole violation.

She was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following her arrest, on no bond.

EARTHQUAKE SUMMIT SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONTH 

The Butler County EMA will be hosting a Earthquake Summit in February.

The summit is scheduled to be on February 21st at the Tinnin Fine Arts Center at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff, and will discuss topics on school safety, public health, and planning around earthquakes and earthquake preparedness.

ENDANGERED CARUTHERSVILLE WOMAN STILL MISSING 

An endangered woman from Caruthersville is still missing.

According to the Caruthersville Police Department, 36 year old Michele Bell, of Caruthersville, continues to be missing after her disappearance in Caruthersville on December 8th, where she was last seen driving her car southbound on Interstate 55.

Bell is a white female, with blonde hair and green eyes, with a height of 5’4, and weighs 105 pounds. She is considered an endangered person, and may be medically at risk.

Her last known location was near Joiner, Arkansas, where several people reported seeing her car broke down at Exit 34.

INJURIES REPORTED FOLLOWING MULTI-VEHICLE CRASH IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

Injuries were reported on Thursday following a multi-vehicle collision in Pemiscot County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Interstate 55, where a vehicle lost control and struck another vehicle, causing the struck vehicle to strike another vehicle.

The driver of the struck vehicle received minor injuries as a result of the collision, and was transported to a Pemiscot hospital.

TWO EARTHQUAKES REPORTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY 

Two earthquakes were reported on Thursday on the New Madrid fault line.

According to the US Geological Survey, the first earthquake was reported near East Prairie, and registered at a measured 1.7 magnitude, with the second quake appearing east of Kennett, measuring at 1.9 magnitude.
