POPLAR BLUFF R-1 SCHOOL DISTRICT UPDATES PROCEDURAL GUIDELINES
The Poplar Bluff R-1 School District has updated their procedural guidelines to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Superintendent Dr. Dill Scott tells KWOC News that the updated guidelines come from the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, and state that anyone involved in a contact trace, including anyone within 6 feet of a potential patient, or anyone who has been near a potential patient for 15 minutes or longer, are required to self-quarantine as per the procedures set by the Butler County Health Department.
The school district is still mandating all staff to wear masks and PPE gear, and it is strongly recommended that students wear masks while on campus grounds, or when within six feet of other students or staff.
MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN STODDARD COUNTY ON ATTEMPTING TO ENTICE A CHILD
A man was arrested in Stoddard County on Tuesday after attempting to entice a child.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 40 year old Robert Cooper, of Dexter, was booked on enticement or attempted enticement of a child, after attempting to coerce an actor who was pretending to be a child less than 15 years of age.
Following his arrest, he was transported to the Stoddard County Jail, with no bond.
TWO ROADWAYS SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION IN STODDARD COUNTY FOR REPAIRS
Two roadways are scheduled for reduction in Stoddard County while undergoing repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, both Route BB and Route K, stretching to Route M, will be reduced to one lane while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs on the roadway.
The work is set to take place today from 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
PEDESTRIAN KILLED AFTER BEING STRUCK BY VEHICLE IN BUTLER COUNTY
A Poplar Bluff woman was killed after a vehicle struck her while she was traveling alongside a roadway.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, the incident took place in the 2000 block of Barron Road around 5 pm, where 19 year old Maci Williams was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
She was transported by air to a Memphis hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
BERNIE MAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON KIDNAPPING AND HARASSMENT CHARGES
A Bernie man was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Monday on kidnapping and harassment charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 40 year old Derek Mays was booked on a state warrant for 2nd degree kidnapping and 1st degree harassment.
He was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following his arrest, with no bond.
POPLAR BLUFF MAN WINS $100,000 FROM LOTTERY TICKET
A Poplar Bluff man won a large sum of money from a lottery ticket.
Local resident Chad Berry stated that he stopped at a local gas station, where he picked up a scratch off ticket he hadn’t seen before, and decided to try his luck.
While scratching the numbers, he won the consecutive $5, $10,000, and $100,000 prizes, with $100,000 being the highest possible amount that can be won from the ticket.
