GOVERNOR MIKE PARSON ANNOUNCES SUPPLEMENTAL BUDGET SESSION

Missouri Governor Mike Parson announced that a supplemental budget will be set next month in response to the increasing concern over COVID-19.

Governor Parson made the announcement on Wednesday during a briefing on the states current situation regarding the coronavirus, and reported that the bill will fund multiple projects, such as nutrition service programs for schools, emergency grant solutions for the prevention of homelessness, payments for child support and domestic violence grants, and grants for job training.

The budget is expected to be implemented on November 5th.

WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN WAYNE COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGE

A woman was arrested in Wayne County on Tuesday on a drug related charge.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, 39 year old Jana Drennan, of Williamsville, was taken into custody on a felony charge for possession of a controlled substance – alprazolam, as well as a motor vehicle offense.

Following her arrest, she was transported to the Wayne County Jail.

SERIOUS INJURIES REPORTED FROM VEHICLE COLLISION IN STODDARD COUNTY

A driver was seriously injured in a vehicle collision in Stoddard County on Wednesday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened on Highway 25 and Highway D, north of Bernie, where a vehicle was struck when it pulled into the path of another oncoming vehicle.

Following the crash, the driver was transported to a Cape Girardeau hospital for treatment.

THREE RIVERS COLLEGE MEMBER RECEIVES NATIONAL AWARD

A Three Rivers College member received a national award for her work in the field.

According to officials with the school’s board, Diane Patterson received the National College Testing Association President’s Award for her work and contributions as coordinator of the college’s testing services.

She is the chair of the Testing Center Certification Committee, and was elected to the NCTA Governing Council. Patterson was given the award for her time spent helping the organization, as well as her assistance to the college’s president.

KENNETT WOMAN ARRESTED IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION

A Kennett woman was taken into custody in Stoddard County on Wednesday on a drug possession charge.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 46 year old Nagena Curl was booked on possession of a controlled substance – except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid.

She was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following her arrest, with no bond.

ROADWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY SCHEDULED TO CLOSE FOR MAINTENANCE

A roadway in Stoddard County will close while undergoing maintenance.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Route T, between Missouri Route 51 and County Road 295, will be closed while MODOT crews replace a culvert underneath the roadway.

The work is set to take place on Tuesday, from 8 am to 3 pm.
