TWO ARKANSAS RESIDENTS KILLED AFTER VEHICLE CRASHES INTO AN ABANDONED RESIDENCE IN BUTLER COUNTY

 

Two Arkansas residents are dead following a single vehicle wreck in Butler County. 

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by 20 year old Spencer Hardin of Piggott, lost control of the vehicle and travelled off Highway 51, near Fagus at a high rate of speed and crashed into an abandoned residence. 

Both Hardin and a passenger in the vehicle, identified as 16 year old Justin Gilbee, also of Piggott, were pronounced dead at the scene by Butler County Coroner Andy Moore and Deputy Coroner Corey Crutchfield.

MAN ARRESTED FOLLOWING SHOOTING IN PEMISCOT COUNTY

A Blytheville man was taken into custody after shooting two people in Pemiscot County.

Few details are available at this time, however according to the Pemiscot County Sheriff’s Department, 34 year old Martez Jones was arrested after authorities responded to a call of a shooting at a gas station in Steele, where two victims were found with gunshot wounds. They were transported by air to a hospital for treatment.

Jones was located and booked in Blytheville on Sunday, and currently faces 1st degree assault with formal charges pending. He is being held in custody with no bond.

ROADWAY IN NEW MADRID COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION DURING REPAIRS

A roadway in New Madrid County will be reduced while undergoing repairs.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Northbound Interstate 55, from mile marker 32 to mile marker 40 near Marston, will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs.

The work will take place today through Thursday, from 8 am to 4:30 pm daily.

TWO SUSPECTS CURRENTLY BEING SEARCHED FOR BY THE NEW MADRID COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

The New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department is currently searching for two suspects.

According to the Department, suspects Bobby Murphy and Freddie Akridge the 2nd are currently being searched for by authorities on outstanding warrants. Murphy is wanted for failing to appear for child abuse/neglect, while Akridge is wanted on failure to appear for a charge on 1st degree statutory rape.

POPLAR BLUFF MAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION CHARGE

A local man was arrested in Stoddard County on drug possession charges.

According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 61 year old Marshall Patterson was booked on possession of a controlled substance – except 35 grams or less of marijuana/synthetic cannabinoid.

Following his arrest, he was transported to the Stoddard County Jail on a $5,000 cash or surety bond.

HOUSE DESTROYED BY FIRE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

A house was destroyed by a fire in New Madrid County on Saturday.

According to the New Madrid County Fire Department, officials responded to a call of a spreading fire at a house in the 300 block of Kennedy Street in Canalou, where the home was completely engulfed in the flames by the time authorities arrived at the scene.

The house was destroyed by the fire, and the cause of the flame is currently under investigation.
