FLOOD WATCH ISSUED FOR ALL AREA COUNTIES

 

A flash flood watch has been issued for much of Southeast Missouri.

According to the National Weather Service, showers and heavy rainfall is expected through today, causing local waters to rise.

Weather Officials report that up to an inch of rain is expected throughout the day in parts of Southeast Missouri, and will be under a flood watch until 6 am Thursday morning.


TWO AREA RESIDENTS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN BUTLER COUNTY

 

Two area residents were taken into custody in Butler County on Tuesday.

According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, 25 year old Kearstyne Johnson was arrested on warrant for failure to appear on receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana, and an additional charge on possession of marijuana.

The second arrest was made on 42 year old Shawn Lee, who was taken into custody on felony failure to appear on delivery of a controlled substance and moving traffic violation, a Butler County Sheriff’s Office Warrant, and driving while intoxicated.

He was additionally charged with felony possession of methamphetamine.

They were both transported to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office following their arrests.

CHILI COOK OFF SCHEDULED AT THE BLACK RIVER COLISEUM

 

There is a chili cook-off scheduled at the Black River Coliseum later in the month.

The event will feature several teams of chefs that will make their own chili dishes, and anyone is welcome to come during the event to sample as many dishes as they’d like. There will also be entertainment, and prizes awarded for booth decorations, blind judging, fundraising, and more.

It will be held at the Coliseum on February 22nd, from 11 am to 2 pm, and is free to the public.

SUSPECT ARRESTED IN SUSPICIOUS DEATH IN RANDOLPH COUNTY

 

A man has been taken into custody as a person of interest in a suspicious death in Randolph County.

According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department, Kelly Dawson was arrested on the charge of failing to register as a sex offender, and has been identified as a potential person of interest in the death of Brandon Will, who was found suffering multiple injuries in his vehicle, which he later died from.

The investigation into Will’s death is ongoing, and his body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab to determine the cause of death.

MAN ARRESTED IN PEMISCOT COUNTY ON METHAMPHETAMINE POSSESSION

 

A man was taken into custody in Pemiscot County on possession of methamphetamine.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that 62 year old Bobby Wallace, of Cordova, was arrested on felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported to the Pemiscot County Jail following his arrest.

TWO ROADS CLOSED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY DUE TO FLOODING

 

Two roads in New Madrid County have been closed due to rising waters.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a portion of roadway on Route 77, near Route A, as well as Route 162, has been closed due to the rising waters of the Mississippi River.
