COURT CASES SET FOR FORMER PRIEST IN STODDARD COUNTY

 

Court cases have been set in Stoddard County for a former priest from Springfield.

76 year old Frederick Lutz was taken into custody on Wednesday on several charges, including a Stoddard County warrant on statutory sodomy, 2nd degree, and child molestation, 3rd degree.

These charges arose from an investigation into him, which started from church documents on his crimes found in the St. Joseph Parish in Advance.

Lutz pleaded not guilty to these charges in a court case on Thursday, and will reappear on Tuesday for his bond. Another hearing is scheduled for March 12th at 1 pm.

AREA RESIDENTS INJURED IN VEHICLE CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY

 

Two area residents were injured in a vehicle crash in Butler County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash happened on County Road 533, east of Highway W, where a vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree.

The driver and an occupant of the vehicle, both Poplar Bluff residents, received moderate injuries from the crash, and were transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

BRIDGE CLOSING IN POPLAR BLUFF DURING REPAIRS

 

A bridge in Poplar Bluff will be closing next week for extensive repairs.

According to the Poplar Bluff Street Department, a section of Broadway between Main and Oak will be closed from Monday through Friday while crews make permanent bridge repairs.

The work will include removing the roadbed, and filling the base with clay to compact the road for new fill material.

More roadwork is scheduled for Broadway in September, with another project slated to begin in 2021.

CHILI COOK OFF SCHEDULED AT THE BLACK RIVER COLISEUM

 

There is a chili cook-off scheduled at the Black River Coliseum this weekend.

The event will feature several teams of chefs that will make their own chili dishes, and anyone is welcome to come during the event to sample as many dishes as they’d like. There will also be entertainment, and prizes awarded for booth decorations, blind judging, fundraising, and more.

It will be held at the Coliseum on Saturday, from 11 am to 2 pm, and is free to the public.

VEHICLE CRASH REPORTED IN STODDARD COUNTY

 

A vehicle crash was reported in Stoddard County on Thursday.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on private property north of Route Y, where a vehicle travelled off a paved parking lot and struck a ditch.

The driver received minor injuries from the crash, and was transported to a hospital in Stoddard County.

MUSEUM IN STODDARD COUNTY HOSTING TRIVIA NIGHT

 

A museum in Stoddard County will be hosting a trivia event in March.

The National Stars and Stripes Museum will be hosting their 4th annual trivia night, which will feature food, desserts, and drinks. The trivia will resemble Jeopardy, and will be held on March 7th from 6 to 9 pm.
