POPLAR BLUFF GIRLS BASKETBALL WINS DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Poplar Bluff girls’ basketball team won their first district championship in nine years last night in Poplar Bluff.
The Mules won the Class 5, District 1 championship game over Jackson 49 to 44. This is the Lady Mules first district title since the 2010-11 season.
The Lady Mules now advance to play in the state sectional next Wednesday at Jefferson College in Hillsboro. They will play the winner of the district 2 final tonight between Oakville and Cor Jesu Academy.
The Mules lost their District Championship game last night to Jackson 49 to 45.

MULTIPLE INJURIES REPORTED IN COLLISION INCIDENT IN BUTLER COUNTY
There were multiple injuries reported in a vehicle collision that occurred in Butler County on Thursday.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol tells KWOC News that the crash happened on US 60, east of Poplar Bluff, where an oncoming vehicle struck another car from behind while it was stationary on the eastbound lanes.
Two Juvenile occupants of the stationary vehicle received moderate injuries, and the driver of the oncoming vehicle received minor injuries from the incident, and were all transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.
APPRECIATION BREAKFAST BEING HELD IN DEXTER
There will be an appreciation breakfast event in Dexter today.
The Farmer Appreciation Breakfast will be held at the Essex Lions Club Building, at the Mae Hall Park in Essex, and will be held from 6:30 to 9 am.

SPRING FESTIVAL SCHEDULED FOR PUXICO IN APRIL
The Puxico Police Department will be hosting a spring festival in early April.
According to the department, the festival will be having an Easter egg hunt for children, as well as BINGO activities for the adults. There will also be craft and food vendors, and more.
The festival will be held in Puxico, at South Park on April 4th, from 10 am to 4 pm.
SERIOUS INJURIES REPORTED IN VEHICLE CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY
A driver was injured following a vehicle crash that occurred in Butler County on Thursday.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Highway PP, north of Poplar Bluff, where a vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree.
The driver received serious injuries from the crash, and was transported to a hospital in Poplar Bluff.
ROAD SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION IN BUTLER COUNTY
A road is set to be reduced in Butler County while repairs are in place.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Business 60 eastbound will be reduced to one lane while MoDOT crews perform repairs to a bridge located over the Black River in Poplar Bluff.

SUMMER BASH EVENT SCHEDULED TO BE HOSTED IN MAY
There will be a Summer Bash hosted by the Wappapello Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in May.
The event will feature a combination of activities from the Kids to Parks, Music in the Park, and multiple military displays, as well as hosting concession stands and a firework display.
The event will be held at the Redman Creek Recreation Area, and Bill Emerson Memorial Visitor Center, on May 23rd from 9am to midnight.
