POPLAR BLUFF MAN CONVICTED ON SODOMY CHARGES
A Poplar Bluff man was convicted of several sodomy and statutory rape charges.
According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, 47 year old Robert Chavez was convicted of statutory sodomy, 1st degree, and statutory rape, 1st and 2nd degree.
He was also charged on four additional 1st degree statutory sodomy charges, first degree child molestation, and second degree rape.
These charges are a result of a sexual abuse claim that began in 2012 on a then 13 year old, and continued into 2014.
AREA RESIDENT ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON SEVERAL CHARGES
An area resident was taken into custody on Friday on several charges.
Officials with the Butler County Sheriff’s Department tells KWOC News that 29 year old Dominique Jones was arrested on felony unlawful use of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
He was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, concealing contraband in a correctional facility, and possession of a weapon at a county correctional facility.
Following his arrest, he was transported to the Butler County Jail.
ROAD IN BUTLER COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION DURING BRIDGE REPAIRS
A road will be reduced in Butler County while bridge repairs are in place.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Route W in Butler County will be reduced while a bridge between Marble Hill and Ravenwood Street is under repairs.
The work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, and continue until Wednesday, from 6 am to 3 pm each day.
FATALITY REPORTED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CHASE FROM ROBBERY
A death was reported after a vehicle pursuit from a robbery in New Madrid County.
According to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department, officials were called in to a robbery at a pit stop in Marston, which led to a vehicle pursuit on U.S. 61.
The vehicle crashed on an intersection on Highway K and A in Pemiscot County, where two of the suspects were arrested. The third suspect, 20 year old Kirk King, drowned after he had attempted to escape arrest by jumping into a pond.
The investigation into the robbery is currently ongoing.
THREE ARRESTED IN BUTLER COUNTY ON DRUG RELATED CHARGES
Three people were taken into custody in Butler County over the weekend on drug related charges.
According to the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, 41 year old Deric Silman, 42 year old Namon Wilkerson, and 55 year old James Kopp, were all arrested on Saturday on a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine.
Silman was additionally charged on a felony US Marshal Warrant for escape, and resisting arrest, and Wilkerson was charged on a Phelps County felony warrant on dangerous drugs and resisting arrest.
They were all transported to the Butler County Jail following their arrests.
THREE INJURED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN STODDARD COUNTY
There were three injuries reported following a vehicle crash in Stoddard County.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred on Missouri 51, south of Puxico, where a vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a ditch.
The driver of the vehicle, as well as two occupants, received minor injuries as a result of the crash, and were transported to a hospital in Poplar Bluff.
