POPLAR BLUFF DRIVER KILLED FOLLOWING VEHICLE CRASH IN BUTLER COUNTY
An area driver was killed after his vehicle crashed in Butler County earlier this morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 12:55 am this morning, on US 160, east of Fairdealing.
The crash occurred when a vehicle ran off the roadway, struck two trees, and caught fire.
The driver, 21 year old Aaron Gawthrop, of Poplar Bluff, was pronounced dead at a Poplar Bluff hospital.
MISSOURI GOVERNOR MIKE PARSON HOLDING COVID-19 MEETING
Missouri Governor Mike Parson will be holding a meeting on Wednesday on the ongoing coronavirus situation in the state.
The briefing will include an update on the status of the virus in Missouri, as well as current events in the state. Several state leaders, senior staff, Cabinet members, and officials with the Missouri Hospital Association will be present.
The meeting will be held at 3 pm on Wednesday, and will be broadcast live on the Governor’s Facebook page.
Governor Parson will also be delivering a keynote address at the graduation ceremony of the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s 110th Recruit Class.
ARREST MADE IN STODDARD COUNTY ON MULTIPLE CHARGES
A man was arrested in Stoddard County on multiple warrant charges on Saturday.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 46 year old Jasper Cantrell, of Dexter, was arrested on a Stoddard County warrant for 1st degree assault and property damage, stealing a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest by fleeing.
He was transported to the Stoddard County Jail following his arrest, with no bond.
MILD EARTHQUAKE REPORTED IN NEW MADRID COUNTY
A mild earthquake shook a portion of Southeast Missouri on Monday.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the quake struck around 5:30 am on Monday, and registered at a magnitude of 2.6.
The earthquake was centered about 6 miles north of New Madrid County, and held a depth of around 4 miles.
FREDERICKTOWN WOMAN TAKEN INTO CUSTODY IN STODDARD COUNTY ON DRUG POSSESSION
A Fredericktown woman was arrested in Stoddard County on Sunday on drug possession charges.
According to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, 36 year old Natasha Harris was charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, and possession of marijuana.
She also faces a felony charge on possession of drug paraphernalia.
Following her arrest, she was transported to the Stoddard County Jail.
ROADWAY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY SCHEDULED FOR REDUCTION DURING REPAIRS
A roadway in Pemiscot County will be reduced while repairs are underway.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, a section of Southbound Interstate 55, from mile marker 10.4 to marker 3.2, will be reduced with a 13-foot width restriction while MODOT crews perform pavement repairs.
The work will take place from January 26th to February 5th, from 7 am to 4 pm daily.
