SUICIDE AND CRISIS LIFELINE NOW LIVE IN MISSOURI
Individuals in Missouri who are needing mental health support now have a new way to reach help.
The newly designated 9-8-8, three-digit number, will route individuals to the existing National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, where compassionate, accessible care and support are available 24/7 for anyone experiencing a mental health, suicide, or substance use crisis.
According to Missouri Governor Mike Parson, there are seven crisis centers in Missouri responsible for answering 988 contacts for the state.
Missouri’s 988 centers are expected to answer the projected 253,000 contacts, including calls, texts, and chats, in the first year of the 988 implementation.
Crisis specialists will also have the ability to dispatch mobile crisis response teams for additional crisis response wherever the crisis is occurring in the community and based on the needs of the person.
YOUNG CHILD WHO WAS THE SUBJECT OF AN ENDANGERED PERSON ADVISORY HAS BEEN FOUND
Updating a story we brought to you last week, a young child who was the subject of an Endangered Person Advisory has been found safe.
According to the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department, Aryan Shinstock was found Sunday night with his biological mother Kala Boesch.
The St. Francois County Court had previously issued protective custody of the less than one month old boy to the State of Missouri.
After being found, the child was placed into the care of Missouri Children and Family Services.
No formal charges have been filed against the mother.
RESIDENTS REMINDED TO NOT POST SIGNS ON STATE RIGHT OF WAY
The Missouri Primary is coming up on August 2nd and state officials are reminding residents to not post signs on state right of way.
According to officials, Missouri Department of Transportation policy prohibits installation or maintenance of non-approved items on state right of way.
Non-approved advertising signs or display materials include streamers, garage-sale signs, political signs, banners, and balloons
Officials say that unauthorized signs can create dangerous distractions for drivers and can also pose as obstacles for MoDOT’s roadside forces.
BUTLER COUNTY ROAD TO BE CLOSED TODAY FOR CULVERT REPLACEMENT
Route 158 in Butler County will be closed today so crews with the Missouri Department of Transportation can replace a culvert under the roadway.
The section of Route 158 to be closed is located between County Road 343 and County Road 323.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
SPEEDING CRACKDOWN UNDERWAY IN ARKANSAS
Law Enforcement Officials in Arkansas are joining together to try to damper speeding in the state.
According to the Arkansas State Police, a two week crackdown directed at speeders began on Monday.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, local roads are the most dangerous for speeders.
The 2020 data reports that 87 percent of all speeding-related traffic fatalities on U.S. roads occurred on non-interstate roadways.
BRIDGE REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS TODAY NEAR MALDEN
Route 62 in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane today as crews perform bridge repairs.
According to officials, the work zone will be located from Route 25 to County Road 558 near Malden.
Weather permitting, work will take place today from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
