PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY A MOTORCYCLE NEAR POPLAR BLUFF

A pedestrian was struck by a motorcycle earlier this week in Butler County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the motorcycle struck the pedestrian shortly before 10:30 pm Tuesday night. Both riders of the motorcycle were ejected after the collision.

All three people involved suffered serious injuries. The pedestrian was flown to a St. Louis hospital while the two people on the motorcycle were both transported to a Poplar Bluff hospital.

Officials say the incident occurred on Highway M, two miles west of Poplar Bluff. 

HOMICIDE UNDER INVESTIGATION IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

Two people have been taken into custody in connection to a homicide investigation in Southeast Missouri.

Bollinger County Sheriff Casey Graham tells KWOC News that shortly before 9:30 pm Tuesday night, authorities received reports of a male individual with a gunshot wound.

A deputy located the male in a vehicle at a business within Marble Hill. The man was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Graham tells us that the victim’s identity is being withheld until a next of kin can be notified. The names of the subjects have not been released. 

An investigation led authorities to an area residence where two individuals were taken into custody.

Graham says that while this remains an active and ongoing investigation, there is no active threat to the public.

MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS BEFORE THE SCHOOL YEAR STARTS

The new school year is coming up and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services is reminding parents to make sure that their children have the required immunizations.

Children attending kindergarten through 12th grade are required to have the following immunizations or booster shots: DtaP, IPV, Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella.

8th through 12th grade students are also required to have the Tdap and MCV immunizations.

FEED AND SEED EVENT SET FOR TODAY IN POPLAR BLUFF

New Day Ministry in Poplar Bluff will be hosting a feed and seed event today. 

The event is from 3 to 5 pm and is first come, first serve, with packs limited to one per household.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI WEIGH STATION TO BE CLOSED THROUGH LATE SEPTEMBER

A weigh station in Southeast Missouri will be closed through late September.

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Steele Weigh Station and access ramp on Northbound Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County has been closed so contractor crews can perform concrete repairs. 

Officials say that the repairs are expected to be completed, and the station reopened, by the morning of Tuesday, September 27th, weather permitting. 

WORK UNDERWAY TO REPLACE A BRIDGE IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Route AE in New Madrid will be closed for a month so contractor crews can replace a bridge over Ash Slough Ditch.

According to officials, the section of Route AE to be closed is located between Route H and Route HH.

The project is scheduled to be completed by Saturday, August 20th, weather permitting.
