HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
A homicide investigation is underway in Southeast Missouri.
Officials with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety tell KWOC News that officers were dispatched to a residence on Washington Street Monday morning for a report of an assault where one subject was suspected to be injured.
The victim was transported to a local hospital and later pronounced dead.
During the course of the investigation a suspect was located and taken into custody.
Officials say that the name of the suspect and victim are not being released at this time.
BUTLER COUNTY FAIR TO HAVE NEW HOME FOR 2023
The Butler County Fair is moving this year.
The 2023 Butler County Fair has been scheduled for September 28th through September 30th at Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park.
Multiple events are scheduled, including the rodeo, donkey races, and tractor pull.
The Black River Coliseum will be hosting the fair exhibits and silent auction over all three days, as well as the Butler County Fair Beauty Pageant on September 29th.

POPLAR BLUFF CHEERLEADING KIDDIE CAMP SCHEDULED FOR THIS MONTH
A Poplar Bluff Cheerleading Kiddie Camp for future cheerleaders ages 3 to 6th grade is set for this month.
The camp is scheduled to be held at the Poplar Bluff High School Auxiliary gym from 5:30 to 7 pm on September 18th through September 20th. Registration will begin at 5 pm on the 18th.
The cost is $30 per child and will include a T-shirt.
All Kiddie Camp Cheerleaders will then perform at either the 7th or 8th grade football games on Thursday, September 21st.
INVESTIGATION UNDERWAY FOLLOWING OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING IN FREDERICKTOWN
Two people have been taken into custody in connection to an officer involved shooting in Fredericktown.
According to the Fredericktown Police Department, at around 1:30 pm on Sunday, there was an officer involved shooting in the Fredericktown WalMart parking lot. One subject was arrested at the scene and a second subject was arrested later Sunday night at a Madison County residence.
No information has been released about who fired a weapon or if anyone was injured.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control is investigating the incident.
FOUR INJURED, ONE SERIOUSLY, IN CRASH ON INTERSTATE 55
Four people were injured in a single vehicle crash Monday morning.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 52 year old Richard Chambers, of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, was driving on Interstate 55 in Pemiscot County when his vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway and struck a cable barrier.
Officials say that the vehicle then ran off the right side of the road, crossed over the west outer road, and ran into a field.
A passenger in the vehicle, 43 year old Sonja Martin, also of Crystal Springs, received serious injuries in the crash.
Chambers, along with two juveniles in the vehicle, had minor or moderate injuries. All four were transported to a Hayti hospital.
MULTI MONTH BRIDGE REPLACEMENT UNDERWAY IN PEMISCOT COUNTY
Route A in Pemiscot County will be closed through the end of November so contractor crews can replace the bridge over Drainage Ditch 72.
This section of roadway being closed is located between County Road 286 and County Road 299 near Bragg City.
Weather permitting, work taking place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, with the project completion anticipated by Friday, December 1st.
PAVEMENT REPAIR PROJECT BEGINS TODAY NEAR BLOOMFIELD
Route AB in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane with a 10-foot width restriction for most of this month as crews perform pavement repairs.
According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the crews will be working between Route Y and Route 25, near Bloomfield.
Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday, September 29th from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily
