INVESTIGATION REVEALS HEAT LAMP IN DOG HOUSE CAUSED RESIDENTIAL FIRE IN KENNETT
A heat lamp is being cited as the cause for a fire earlier this week in the Missouri Bootheel.
According to Kennett Fire Chief Lance Davis, the Fire Department received a call Tuesday morning of a structure fire.
At the scene, crews found smoke and flames throughout the residence. An occupant stated that he was sleeping and was awoken by smoke detectors and upon exiting the residence the house was fully involved.
After the fire was extinguished, the Missouri State Fire Marshal was called to the scene for an investigation.
Davis says it was determined that the fire started in a dog house under the patio at the rear of the structure, which had been equipped with a heat lamp.
The occupant was treated for smoke inhalation.
