CLASS 2, DISTRICT 2 GIRLS BASKETBALL SEMIFINALS TO BE CARRIED LIVE TONIGHT ON KWOC 

Today’s Talk KWOC will be carrying girls basketball action live tonight. 

The Class 2, District 2 Tournament semifinals between Thayer and Neelyville, will tip off tonight at 6 pm in Van Buren. 

The other semifinal will feature East Carter taking on Alton at 7:30 pm. 

Audio coverage of both games will be available over the radio at Today’s Talk KWOC 930 AM and 93.3 FM, as well as at KWOC.com. Live video coverage will be available for a fee at MSHSAA.tv.

POPLAR BLUFF EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING SET FOR LATE MARCH 

The Poplar Bluff Early Childhood Center has scheduled a screening date for the 2024/25 school year. 

According to school officials, the screening day will take place on Tuesday, March 26th at the 1202 Camp Road Campus. 

To be eligible, children must be between the ages of three and five on July 31st, 2024.

DEXTER CEMETERY ANNUAL SPRING FLOWER REMOVAL SET FOR MARCH 1ST 

Dexter residents are being reminded to remove flowers from the Dexter Cemetery by the end of the month. 

City officials say that in preparation for spring, the Dexter Street Department will begin their annual Spring Flower Removal at the cemetery beginning on March 1st. 

Anyone who does not want their flowers to be discarded should have them removed by that date.

 

SHOULDER WORK SCHEDULED FOR THIS WEEK IN DUNKLIN COUNTY

Route 53 in Dunklin County will be reduced to one lane this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform shoulder work. 

The work zone is located from Route H to Route J near Campbell. 

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Friday. 


FAFSA FRENZY EVENT SCHEDULED FOR NEXT MONTH AT POPLAR BLUFF HIGH SCHOOL 

Multiple events have been scheduled for next month in Poplar Bluff to help students and their families complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. 

FAFSA Frenzy will be held from 5 to 7 pm at the Poplar Bluff High School Commons Area on Wednesday, March 6th.

Another FAFSA Frenzy event is scheduled for 3:30 to 5:30 pm on Monday, March 25th.


CREWS WORKING THIS WEEK ON INTERSTATE 55 IN SOUTHEAST MISSOURI 

Motorists should be watching out for crews on the side of Interstate 55 this week in Southeast Missouri. 

According to the Missouri Department of Transportation, Interstate 55 will have reduced shoulders in certain areas while contractor crews install new signage on the right of way. 

This week, crews will be working at various locations from mile marker 6.8 to mile marker 105. 

Weather permitting, work will take place from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily through Friday.
