DONIPHAN R-1 PRE-K SCREENING SET FOR THIS WEEK

The Doniphan R-1 school district will be holding screenings for pre-kindergarten students this week.

According to school officials, the screenings will take place on Friday, March 15th.

To be eligible, children must be four years old before July 31st, 2024.

PBJHS TO HOST SOCIAL MEDIA MEETING FOR PARENTS

Poplar Bluff Junior High School will be hosting a meeting next week with parents and law enforcement to discuss teens and social media.

Poplar Bluff Police Detective Danny Hicks will be on hand during the informational meeting at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, March 19th at the Junior High Gym.

The meeting is for parents and guardians only, who are asked to RSVP for the event. A link to the online sign up is available on the Poplar Bluff Middle School facebook page.

WARREN ZEIDERS HEADLINES LINEUP FOR SIKESTON JAYCEE BOOTHEEL RODEO

One of the biggest names in country music is leading off four nights of entertainment at the 72nd Annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo.

Officials recently announced that Warren Zeiders is the headlining act for the rodeo which is scheduled for August 7th through the 10th.

Zeiders will be performing on August 7th, and will be followed by Rhett Walker on August 8th, Ludacris on August 9th, and Shane Smith and the Saints on August 10th.

TWO ARRESTED ON METH CHARGES IN MISSOURI BOOTHEEL

Two people were arrested over the weekend on drug related charges in Southeast Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, 58 year old Jeffrey Musall and 43 year old Brandy Rhodes, both of Steele, were taken into custody on charges of possession of a controlled substance - methamphetamine and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Rhodes is also facing a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance - hydrocodone.

Following the arrests, both subjects were held at the Pemiscot County Jail.

RESURFACING PROJECT UNDERWAY IN STODDARD COUNTY

Route 114 in Stoddard County will be reduced to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction for over two months as contractor crews resurface the roadway.

The work zone is located between Route 25 and Route 60 near Dexter.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through Monday, May 20.

DRAINAGE REPAIRS TO CAUSE DELAYS THIS WEEK IN NEW MADRID COUNTY

Route E in New Madrid County will be reduced to one lane this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform drainage repairs. 

The section of roadway being reduced is located from County Road 610 to County Road 628 near Canalou.

Weather permitting, work will take place today through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
