11 YEAR OLD BOY KILLED IN ATV CRASH

An 11 year old child was killed in a weekend ATV crash.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the child was driving the ATV on private property in Reynolds County when the vehicle overturned and landed on the driver.

The child was pronounced dead at the scene.

INVESTIGATION ONGOING FOLLOWING ATM THEFT IN STODDARD COUNTY

Law enforcement in Stoddard County are investigating a theft from a Puxico ATM.

According to Sheriff Carl Hefner, shortly before 5 am on Sunday, the Sheriff’s Office was notified of an alarm call at First Midwest Bank in Puxico.

It was discovered that the ATM machine had been broken into and an undisclosed amount of money was missing. A vehicle was also still on scene that was later discovered to have been stolen from the Dexter area. During the investigation, it was discovered that the suspects were three black males.

Officials say that they believe that the incident could be related to similar thefts in Poplar Bluff and Rolla.

SOUTHEAST MISSOURI TEAM TO PLAY TODAY FOR STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP

A Southeast Missouri school will be playing today for a state softball championship.

In Class 2, Kennett defeated Lone Jack 11-4 on Monday to advance to the State Final.

The Indians will play Diamond this morning in the State Championship game at 11 am in Springfield.

RIPLEY LAKE HOSTING YOUTH FISHING DAY ON JUNE 8TH

A free event has been scheduled for next month to get area kids out fishing.

The Eleven Point Ranger District of the Mark Twain National Forest is hosting a youth fishing day from 8 am to noon on Saturday, June 8th at Ripley Lake.

Kids ages two to 15 are invited to attend and fishing licenses are not required.

Officials say that door prizes will be provided to the first 50 kids. The Missouri Department of Conservation and the U.S. Forest Service have limited fishing gear to provide, so participants are encouraged to bring their own equipment and bait.

Food and drinks will not be available but kids are encouraged to bring their own. All children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

STODDARD COUNTY ROAD CLOSED TODAY FOR PAVEMENT REPAIRS

Route HH in Stoddard County will be closed beginning today as Missouri Department of Transportation crews perform pavement repairs.

The section of roadway being closed is located from Route CC to Route 153 near Baker.

Weather permitting, work will take place today and tomorrow from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily.

CULVERT REPLACEMENT TO FORCE CLOSURE OF NEW MADRID COUNTY HIGHWAY

Route 153 in New Madrid County will be closed this week as Missouri Department of Transportation crews replace a culvert under the roadway.

The closure is located between Route B and County Road 248 in the Tallapoosa area.

Weather permitting, work will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both today and tomorrow.
